Coach Marvin King's new book ``The Art of Being Well`` sheds new light on understanding the links between wellness and daily living. Each chapter provides a detailed breakdown of the often misunderstood directions and definitions of fitness and training over the years. The references to the ancient Chinese teachings and trainings blend so well into understanding the Eastern origins that were soon adapted by the Western approaches to fitness. Marvin emphasizes training our mindset to discover and develop a unique, personalized fitness plan. His classes are energizing and enlightening. His professional skill, rapport, knowledge and humor guide participants to reach and discover what we're capable of. This book is a wonderful supplement to what I have been learning as a participant in Marvin's classes. I feel so energized and find balance in relaxation. This is a MUST READ! It encourages and promotes a revitalization into wellness and it gives you a positive exploration into feeling fit, physically and mentally.
Coach Marvin King covers so many important areas in his new book. I have been a student of Marvin's and have wanted to delve deeper into all of the curricula he presents in his classes. This book does that. Written in almost a conversational tone, I feel like he is right with me answering any questions I might have. We all need to learn wellness strategies, no matter our age. His book sets us on the path to good health and prevention.
Full disclosure: I have been a student of Coach Marvin King for over 12 years. His instruction in both Kettlebell (which no one believes I still do at age 71, but I do!) and Qigong has enabled me to maintain my health, strength and balance. In fact, I see notable improvements year to year, so for me this has been an important tool in my effort to age slowly and gracefully. I am delighted to see he is not only a gifted teacher, but has now condensed my twelve years of instruction into a single book. That is efficient! I've been doing Kettlebell and Joint Mobility training with Marvin for 11 years, and more recently his Qigong training. Marvin absolutely 'practices what he preaches' in his book about fitness being only one of eight components of a total Wellness plan which includes aspects such as emotional and spiritual. He offers wise guidance to trainees of any age, as well as several exercise routines that I've come to know and love over the years.
